General information
Prebiotics are a food source for the fertile bacteria in your gut. They are carbohydrates that your body cannot digest. Thus, they enter your lower digestive tract, where they act as food for healthy bacteria and stimulate their growth. Prebiotics are fiber types that feed the friendly bacteria in your gut, which helps the gut bacteria produce nutrients for your gut cells and leads to a healthier digestive system.*
What is resistant starch?
Resistant starch is a type of starch that is not completely broken down and absorbed in the stomach or small intestine. Instead, it enters the colon where it is converted into fatty acids that act as prebiotics to help feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut.
